ABOUT THE AFHCO BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE AND T|C’S
The African Housing Company (AFHCO) is offering a bursary program for the 2025 academic year to support its residents and their dependents in pursuing higher education. This initiative underscores AFHCO’s commitment to community development and educational advancement.
Bursary Details:

Value: The bursary is valued at R50,000 and will be paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution.

Fields of Study: The bursary is open to any field of study, provided the course duration is at least 12 months and aligns with the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) standards at an accredited tertiary institution.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a current resident of an AFHCO-managed property or a dependent thereof.

Be a South African citizen.
-
Currently be in Matric or have completed Matric.
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification that aligned to SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) standards (students may check if their qualification meets standards here: https://regqs.saqa.org.za/)
Application Process:

Obtain the Application Form: Download the application form from Here or collect it from the AFHCO Head Office.

Prepare Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit the following certified documents:

Completed application form.

RSA Identity Document.
-
Final Grade 11 transcripts (for current Grade 12 students).

Most recent Grade 12 transcript.

National Senior Certificate and results statement.

Most recent academic results (for tertiary students).

Motivational letter detailing the need for the bursary and how studies would be funded in the absence of it.

Testimonial letter from a teacher, lecturer, principal, or dean.

Submit the Application: Email the completed application form and supporting documents to info@afhco.co.za.
Important Dates:

Application Period: Opens on 1 February 2025 at 08:00 and closes on 28 February 2025 at 17:00. Applications received after the closing time will not be considered.

Selection Process: The recipient will be chosen through a system-generated random draw, conducted in March 2025.

Notification: The selected recipient will be contacted via email by no later than 25 March 2025. They must accept the bursary within four days of receiving the notification; otherwise, the bursary will be forfeited.

Announcement: The recipient’s name will be announced on AFHCO’s online platforms by 31 March 2025.
Terms and Conditions:

The bursary amount will be paid directly to the educational institution; no cash will be transferred to the recipient.

Applicants must provide proof of being an AFHCO tenant or a dependent thereof.

By applying, applicants agree to the terms and conditions of the bursary program.
