The Department of Correctional Services, a department of the South African government, is headed by the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services.
The Department is responsible for providing administrative and financial matters to the country’s court system and judiciary. They are also responsible for South Africa’s correctional services and providing legal advice and representation.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED | SERVICE CONTRACT
Bursaries will be awarded to students in the following fields of study:
- Bricklaying (Diploma or National Diploma)
- Welding (Diploma or National Diploma)
- Painting (Diploma or National Diploma)
- Electrical (Diploma or National Diploma)
- Primary Health Care (National Diploma or Degree)
- Nursing (National Diploma or Degree)
- Internal Auditing (National Diploma or Degree)
- Information Technology (National Diploma or Degree)
- Pharmacy (Degree)
- Clinical Psychology (Masters)
- Counselling Psychology (Masters)
- Medicine (MBCHB)
Once students have completed their studies, they will be required to work for the department where needed.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Currently studying or intending to study within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Currently studying or accepted to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- High qualification record (certified copy)
- Course curriculum or prospectus
- Proof of registration or acceptance letter

- If currently studying at the tertiary level, please add: a full tertiary academic record (certified copy)
