ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – AFRIMAT

Afrimat Bursary South Africa | Afrimat Limited is a mining company and provider of construction materials and industrial minerals to the construction, infrastructure, building and civil markets in South Africa (particularly in Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, the Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, the Free State and Limpopo) and Mozambique. The company has 5 main divisions, namely: Readymix, Contracting International, Concrete Products, Mining & Aggregates and Industrial Minerals.

The group service projects of various scales – from small-scale private sector contracts, to large-scale construction and infrastructure projects for parastatals and state-owned enterprises. Afrimat’s main mission is to operate opencast mines, provide customers with contracting services and to add value via mined products.

ABOUT THE AFRIMAT BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & SELECTION

Afrimat Aggregates Operations Pty Ltd (Western Cape) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields:

  • Bachelor’s Teaching and Education (Mathematics, Sciences, Languages)
  • Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, Energy, Industrial)
  • Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Health
  • Financial Management
  • Information Technology
  • Project Management
  • Quantity Surveyor
  • Quality Systems Management/ Data Scientist
  • Supply and Distribution Management

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AFRIMAT BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification within one of the fields of study listed above, in 2025
  • You must be studying or have provisional admission to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • You must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness
  • Preference will be given to students from designated groups and historically disadvantaged backgrounds, in line with Afrimat’s commitment to Employment Equity and diversifying its workforce
  • Preference will be given to students who reside in the following areas: Malmesbury, Philadelphia, Durbanville and Paarl, in the Western Cape province

  • Latest school results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Full academic record, if currently studying (certified copy)
  • Proof of provisional admission into an institution (on letterhead)

  • Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ sworn affidavit if unemployed/ sworn affidavit if self-employed/ certificate or sworn affidavit if deceased)

Note: all supporting documents must be compiled into 1 single document, no larger than 3 MB.
