ABOUT THE COMPANY – GOLDEN ARROW

Golden Arrow Bus Services (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1861 as a major public transport bus service operating within the city of Cape Town, commuting passengers throughout the Metropolitan Cape Peninsula and Cape Flats.

Owned by Hosken Consolidated Investments Limited, a South African holding company, GABS currently operates more than 1000 buses on over 1300 routes.

Everything Golden Arrow does is guided by a set of 6 principles, known as the “Golden Arrow Way”, which includes: Service Quality, Affordability, Reliability, Passenger-centered, Community-oriented and Developing Talent.

ABOUT THE GABS BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) is inviting students from the Western Cape province, to apply for bursary funding for the 2023 academic year..

Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies within these fields:

BSc (Bachelor of Science) qualifications
Information Technology
LLB
Mechanical Engineering
Mechatronics Engineering
Transport Economics

MORE ABOUT THE GABS BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE, SERVICE CONTRACT | SELECTION

We are committed to keeping you up to date with the latest bursary opportunities, and this article covers all details about the Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) Bursary.

The bursary will provide coverage for the following study expenses: tuition fees, accommodation and an allowance for textbooks.

Bursary holders will be required to work for Golden Arrow Bus Services once they have graduated – one year of work for each year of funding received.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to an interview – if you do not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GOLDEN ARROW BURSARY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

You must be studying or intend on studying full time towards an undergraduate qualification, in one of the fields listed above
You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in the Western Cape

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):

ID document (certified copy)
Matric certificate or most recent Academic Records (certified copy)
Proof of acceptance, if a first-year student (on institution letterhead)
Parents or guardians proof of household income (3 months recent bank statement)
Short Curriculum Vitae

NSFAS: What is NSFAS?

NSFAS, or National Student Financial Aid Scheme, was established according to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme Act of 1999 and incorporated the Tertiary Education Fund of South Africa (TEFSA), which stopped operating in 2000.
