ABOUT THE COMPANY – CLIFFE DEKKER HOFMEYR

The history of Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc dates back to 1853 when W E Moore | Son was founded. The company later became Syfret Godlonton-Fuller Moore and in 2008, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc was born as the result of a merger between Cliffe Dekker and Hofmeyr, Herbstein | Gihwala.

The proudly South African full-service law firm now employs over 350 lawyers across their Johannesburg and Cape Town offices. Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (a member of the international DLA Piper Group) is one of South Africa’s biggest business law firms.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Each year Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr award bursaries to deserving students (who can prove strong academic performance and financial merit) within the Law faculty.

Bursaries are awarded to full-time LLB Undergraduate or Postgraduate students.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen OR South African permanent resident
  • Studying full time at a University in South Africa
  • Studying towards an LLB degree qualification (undergraduate or postgraduate)
  • Good academic record
  • Excellence in another field
  • Proven financial need

The application includes 5 sections: personal details; tertiary education details; secondary education details; extra information; supporting documentation.
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document/ drivers licence (certified copy)
  • Matric certificates (certified copy)
  • Full University academic record/ transcript
  • Covering letter (including the following: why you deserve to be awarded a bursary, which is important to you in life and any other information you would like to bring attention to)
  • Curriculum Vitae
