POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS
Postgraduate programmes containing coursework mostly close on 31 October, with the exception of a few programmes and faculties which start to close from May onward. Please refer to the Directions for Postgraduate Applicants for the relevant closing dates.

UCT Postgraduate Online Application 2027

The University of Cape Town (UCT) has opened applications for postgraduate study for the 2027 academic year.

Prospective students can apply online for postgraduate qualifications including Honours, Master’s and doctoral programmes. UCT states that all postgraduate applicants must apply online.

Is UCT Postgraduate Application 2027 Open?

Yes.

UCT opened applications for the 2027 postgraduate admission cycle on 1 April 2026.

Most postgraduate programmes that contain coursework close on 30 September 2026. However, some programmes have different closing dates, so applicants should check the deadline for their specific qualification.

How to Apply for UCT Postgraduate Study

UCT requires postgraduate applicants to apply online.

Step 1: Choose Your Programme

First, decide which postgraduate qualification you want to study.

Step 2: Check the Requirements

Step 3: Create Your UCT Application Account

If you are applying to UCT for the first time, you will need to create an account on the online admissions system.

UCT says you need a valid email address that is not already being used by another UCT applicant.

Step 4: Complete the Online Application

UCT’s postgraduate application process includes sections covering:

Step 5: Upload Supporting Documents

UCT states that postgraduate applicants may need documents such as:

South African ID or passport

Applicants who completed their undergraduate studies at another university may need to submit their non-UCT transcript.

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee

The applicable application fee must be paid according to UCT’s current application instructions.

Step 7: Submit Your Application

UCT Masters Application 2027

For most coursework-based postgraduate programmes, the general closing date is 30 September 2026.

UCT Honours Application 2027

UCT also accepts applications for Honours programmes for the 2027 academic year.

Applicants should check the requirements for their intended Honours programme and submit their application before the relevant deadline.

UCT PhD Application 2027

Prospective doctoral students should follow the application process for the relevant UCT faculty.

UCT notes that applications for PhD study can be made through the relevant faculty office, with doctoral applicants directed to the Doctoral Degrees Board resources for additional information.

Can I Check My UCT Postgraduate Application Status?

Yes.

Once your application has been acknowledged and you have received your PeopleSoft login details, you can use the online system to track your application.

Receiving an acknowledgement does not mean that you have been admitted. UCT explains that successful applicants will receive an offer of admission, while some applicants may be asked for additional information or documents.
