ABOUT THE COMPANY – SAFRIPOL

Safripol is a proudly independent plastics manufacturing company, established in 1972 as the result of a joint venture between 2 companies, namely Hoechst AG of Germany and Sentrachem Ltd. The company is one of the top suppliers of High-density Polyethylene and Polypropylene to the converting industry, which is then used in the manufacturing of packaging and various industrial end uses.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, the companies manufacturing plant is based in Sasolburg, where they produce approximately 120 000 tonnes of polypropylene (PP) and 160 000 tonnes of High-density polyethylene (HDPE) per year.

The company conforms to international standards and holds the following certification: Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001); Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001) and Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001). They also hold CAIA certification.
 

 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

Safripol bursaries are awarded to students within the following fields of study:

  • Chemical Engineering (BEng or BSc)
  • Electrical Engineering (BEng or BSc)
  • Mechanical Engineering (BEng or BSc)

MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE | SERVICE CONTRACT

The bursary will be awarded to the maximum value of R25 000 per year (per student).

On completion of their studies, students will be require to take up employment with Safripol for an amount of time equivalent to the bursary awarded.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying at a recognised university in South Africa
  • Good academic results
  • Intend on pursuing a career within the Engineering sector
