ABOUT THE COMPANY – GREAT NORTH TRANSPORT
Great North Transport (GNT) was established in 1996, when a merger occurred between Lebowa Transport and Gazankulu. The passenger transport company provides public transport services to customers in the Limpopo province, as well as certain sections of Bohlabelo in the Mpumalanga province. The companies goal is to provide the South African public with safe, reliable, comfortable and convenient public transport passenger service.
The company is a fully owned subsidiary of Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise (LEDA), with over 1000 staff members across the companies 11 depots in 6 district municipalities. GNT has a bus fleet of over 500 buses and transports more than 32 million passengers over 279 routes each year.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
GNT bursaries will be awarded to students within the Transport and Logistics field of study.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Achieved a minimum result of 70% for major subjects
- Studying or intend on studying within the Transport or Logistics field
- Studying or intend on studying full time at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa

Alternatively, you can collect an application form from one of the GN Transport depots or Head Office (22 Hans van Rensburg, Bonitas Building, Polokwane).
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):
- ID document (certified copy of)
- Grade 11 results (certified copy of)
- Matric final results (certified copy of)
- Academic qualifications (certified copy of)
- Full academic record on institution’s letterhead, indicating your subjects and symbols (certified copy of)
- Covering letter
- Bursary motivation (section D on the application form)
