500x Trainees (Contract Posts)

The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works, through the ambit of Expanded Public Works Programme, intends to contract 500 young people (aged 18 – 35 years) to be part of the National Youth Service implementation programme for 18 months. Selected youths will be expected to attend a training programme on maintenance of buildings and roads and capturing of data on the Amathuba portal and on completion of the programme, they will maintain government buildings such as schools, clinics and offices.


Those who may not meet the requirements but can read and write and have proven expertise in the built environment will be considered.

NOTE: Designated groups will be given preference.

Forward a detailed CV specifying the ward and municipality where the applicant resides, a certified copy of ID, and academic record to your corresponding municipality as listed below.

 NOTE: the programme applies to South African citizen who resides within the Eastern Cape.


All applications should be submitted at regional offices of the Department of Public Works no later than 16h00 on 16 March 2012.

NOTE: Only successful applicants will be notified. A stipend will be paid both during the training and project placement. Applications without the award and a municipality will not be considered.
