City of Matlosana Bursary South Africa 2025 – 2026

ABOUT THE COMPANY – CITY OF MATLOSANA

The City of Matlosana is located within the North West province of South Africa, bordered by the Maquassi Hills; the Free State province; JB Marks and the Ngaka Modiri Molema District. Previously known as the City Council of Klerksdorp, it is a part of Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality.

The Category B municipality is the smallest out of the districts 3 municipalities, covering an area of just over 3500 km². The municipalities main towns include Stilfontein, Klerksdorp, Hartbeesfontein and Orkney.

The City of Matlosana’s main economic sectors include: agriculture, construction, mining, transport, manufacturing and services. The municipality has 35 wards and its seat is Klerksdorp. Majority of the people who reside in the Matlosana Municipality area speak Tswana as their first language, followed by Sotho.
 

 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

The Office of the Executive Mayor of City Council Matlosana hereby invites all the students who reside in Matlosana Municipality to apply for bursaries, to assist with tertiary study related expenses.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Residing in the Matlosana Municipality area
  • Proven financial need
  • Strong academic record
  • Applied and been accepted to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • *Preference will be given to students who are studying within a scarce skills sector

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Application forms must be collected at your closest local municipality office and libraries within the KOSH area (i.e. Klerksdorp, Orkney, Stilfontein and Hartbeesfontein).
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric final certificate/ results statement (certified copy)
  • Course fee statement
  • Proof of acceptance to study at a tertiary institute
  • Proof of Residence
