ABOUT THE COMPANY – TELKOM

Telkom SA SOC Ltd., founded in the year 1991, is a South African leading wireline and wireless telecommunications provider, with operations in over 38 countries throughout Africa. The company is semi-private and 39% state-owned.

Telkom provides services to private individuals and businesses, including cellphone | devices; prepaid voice | data; phones | modems; landlines; mobile contracts; internet access; LTE and fibre.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED | COVERAGE VALUE

Students who are currently studying or intend on studying in one of the following tertiary institutions and fields of study are welcome to apply:
University students:

 
  • B Electronic Engineering
  • B Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
  • BSc Electronic Engineering
  • BSc Electrical Engineering(Light Current)
  • BSc Computer Engineering
  • BSc Computer Science
  • BSc Information Technology

Technikon students:

  • ND Computer Systems Engineering
  • ND Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
  • ND Information Technology (Technical)

Technical College students:

  • National N Diploma Electrical Engineering (Light Current)

bursaries

The bursary will cover the cost of tuition, accommodation, prescribed books and a living allowance. Once students have graduated, they will be required to work for Telkom for the duration equal to their bursary.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Proven financial need
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study

Students must also satisfy the following criteria based on their tertiary institution of choice:
University students:

  • Achieved a minimum of 60% or “C” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
  • Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

Technikon students:

  • Achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
  • Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

Technical College students:

  • Achieved a minimum of 50% or “D” symbol for English, Mathematics and Science in Matric
  • Current tertiary students: achieved a minimum average of 60% and no failed subjects

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Application forms must be collected from a Telkom Centre for Learning closest to you. Forms are available from 1 March each year.

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy of)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy of)
  • Tertiary academic record, if currently in University (certified copy of)

Applications must then be delivered back to the Telkom Centre for Learning where you collected the application form.
 

CLOSING DATE

31 July annually.
(Applications open on 1 March each year)
(Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted – please apply before the closing date to ensure your application is considered.)
