The company’s permanent workforce is currently split evenly between its head office in Melrose Arch and its regional office at the Bakubung Platinum Mine site close to the town of Rustenburg in the North West Province. The mine construction site itself employs a further workforce of contract workers (currently 1036 staff members at end November 2012) with 30.21% of those representing local employment, with 71% of the total local contractor workforce coming from the Ledig area. In October 2012, Wesizwe launched its recognition programme, the Achievement Awards, to recognise and reward those employees who demonstrate a commitment to go beyond their day-to-day remit to make a difference to the company, its flagship projects and the community.

Wesizwe has developed career paths for all relevant career disciplines, particularly those required to support the company´s core project, the Bakubung Platinum Mine which will eventually employ 3200 people. Wesizwe is specifically interested in those with mining specific skills and competences such as mechanical engineers, shift supervisors, miners and artisans. As part of its Social Labour Plan, Wesizwe has developed various training and development programmes for young people looking to enter a career in the mining industry. It supports a number of ABET learnerships, bursaries, apprenticeships, portable skills, and mentorship programmes, mostly in the engineering and related disciplines.
