This mining company was recognized in 1937, then known as Amcor. The name change to Samancor happened during the 1970s and in 1998 it was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Their South African operations supply more than 30% of the Chrome demand globally.

Samancor has many operations throughout South Africa including Western Chrome Mines located in the North West Province, Tubatse Ferrochrome found in Limpopo, Ferrometals in Mpumalanga, and Eastern Chrome Mines located in Limpopo and Middelburg Ferrochrome situated in Mpumalanga. This company only uses about 30% of their chrome ore for export as 70% is disbursed for use in South Africa.

Samancor Learnerships Requirements

Samancor learnership requirements must be met by all applying. If you do not meet the stipulations required, your application will not be considered. Applicants in their first, second or third year of study at an Institute of Higher Learning can also apply for Samancor learnership programs once they open. Applicants who have a disability and a medical certificate indicating the nature of their disability are also invited to apply.

Samancor basic stipulations:

• Candidates must be a citizen of South Africa
• You must have an ID document
• Applicants must have a Grade 12 certification
• You must hold a diploma, certificate or degree in the field you are applying for
• Must be fluent in English
• Candidates must be computer knowledgeable
• You must work well in a team and individually
• Must be able to follow orders and work well under pressure
• You must have exceptional communication skills
• Applicants must be detail-orientated and be able to meet deadlines

Samancor’s learnerships application online is only available once their learnership program opens. Once the program opens candidates will be able to get the application form on the Samancor Website. You can download the application, complete it in full and mail it along with all relevant documentation to khuphuka@samancorcr.com.

Only those candidates who are added to the shortlist will be contacted. Hence, if you do not receive anything from the two to three months after the closing date, you should accept your application was not a success. Make sure you submit the application and all certified documents ahead of the stated deadline to qualify for the selection process. The application form must be completed in full and given in with relevant documentation ahead of the closing date to be considered.
