South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) Bursary 2025 – 2026

ABOUT THE COMPANY – SACPLAN

The South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) was appointed by the Minister of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, as a statutory Council to regulate the Planning Profession.

SACPLAN assures quality standards are maintained within the planning profession via identification of planning profession work for registered planners to undertake.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED | COVERAGE VALUE

The SACPLAN bursary will be awarded to those studying towards a planning qualification.

 

Bursaries are provided up to a maximum of R40 000 per annum, to assist students with tuition fees.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Registered or accepted to study at an accredited planning school
  • Studying towards a planning qualification (undergraduate and postgraduate)
  • High academic achiever
  • Proven financial need

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Download and complete the SACPLAN Bursary Application Form (.pdf)
 

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Proof of registration/ acceptance from an accredited planning programme/ school (on tertiary letterhead)
  • Current tertiary students: latest academic record/ transcript (on tertiary letterhead) (certified copy)
  • Breakdown of costs for the study programme for the year
  • 3 months latest bank statements from the person currently paying for your studies
  • Full CV (of background and working experience)
  • Personal statement/ motivational letter (max 2 pages)
  • Two written references
